Docs Managing Your Apps iOS (App Store) Excluding Transactions

Excluding Transactions

By default, RefundShield responds to every refund request for your app. Excluded Transactions let you opt specific customers out, RefundShield will send customerConsented: false to Apple for those transactions, which tells Apple you are not contesting the refund.

When to Use This

Excluding a transaction is useful when:

  • A customer has a legitimate complaint and you want to let the refund go through without contesting it
  • You've already resolved the issue with the customer directly (e.g. via support) and want to honour their refund
  • A transaction was made by a tester or internal account

Excluding a transaction does not refund the customer, it only means RefundShield will not try to block the refund if Apple requests consumption data for it.

How to Exclude a Transaction

  1. Go to Apps and open the app you want to configure
  2. Click Edit
  3. Scroll to Excluded Transactions and click Unlock to edit
  4. Enter one or more Original Transaction IDs, separated by commas
  5. Click Save changes

Use the Original Transaction ID, not the individual renewal transaction ID. This ensures the exclusion applies across all renewals for that subscription.

Finding the Original Transaction ID

If you only have an Apple Order ID (the receipt format shown to customers, e.g. MW1234567890), use the built-in lookup tool:

  1. In the Excluded Transactions section, click Lookup Order
  2. Paste the Apple Order ID and click Search
  3. RefundShield will query the App Store Server API and return the matching transactions
  4. Click Exclude next to the transaction you want to exclude, it will be added to the field automatically
  5. Save your changes

Removing an Exclusion

To re-enable protection for a previously excluded transaction, unlock the field, remove the corresponding Original Transaction ID from the list, and save.
